Conveying the Oostflank vision

Rotterdam, NL

In the Oostflank, there are opportunities to realize a significant part of Rotterdam’s urban development goals, driven by a new high-quality public transport connection, the city bridge, and the new Stadionpark station. The area is being developed as a collection of vibrant neighborhoods, each with its own unique identity. With more cohesion and strong central hubs, it will be better integrated into and connected with the rest of the city. I worked at Studio for New Realities while doing this project. There, I was responsible for designing, concretizing and visualizing the impact of the large scale vision on the scale of neighborhoods and subareas.

Scale: Vision for a city district

Client: Municipality of Rotterdam

In collaboration with: Studio for New Realities, Goudappel Coffeng & LOLA

Role: Designer (responsible for subareas)

Challenge: “How can we effectively create space for 30,000 new homes and all associated facilities in Rotterdam’s Oostflank?”

The structural vision map showing the main interventions in landscape, buildings, program, mobility and connections on a larger scale.

Together with Lola Landscape architects we developed 12 eye level visualizations of the desired situation.
